Biography
Bill Luster lives in Louisville, Ky and has been a photographer since 1965. From 1965-1969 he worked for his hometown newspaper, the Glasgow, KY Daily Times. In 1969, he joined the Courier-Journal and the Louisville Times in Louisville, KY. In 2010 he was awarded by the National Press Photographers highest award , the Joseph Sprague award in documentary photojournalism. During his time at The Courier-Journal, he has been the Director of Photography and photographer. He has covered 55 Kentucky Derbies. He has won two Pulitzer Prizes, and has exclusive access to Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and Obama. Two stories in National Geographic Magazine have added to his legacy. In addition to National Geographic, he has been published in Time Magazine and Newsweek. Bill lives in Louisville, KY with his wife Linda, and their, dog, Pearl. Their son Joseph and his wife Lauren, live in Charleston, South Carolina.
